Hail, torrential rains and lightning caused havoc in Melbourne on Saturday March 6, 2010. The extreme conditions combined to cause water related damage to some areas of the Victorian County Court Facility, including Level 4 Judicial area, the Ceremonial Court, the Jury pool room and the entrance foyer.

G4S, The Liberty Group, Honeywell and cleaning staff were on-site quickly and minimised the damage. The cause was a large quantity of hail blocking some gutters and causing torrential rains to flood parts of the building.

Ceilings collapsed in several areas and Honeywell worked throughout the night with contractors and cleaners to restore the Ceremonial Court to pristine condition for sitting on Tuesday 9 March after the Labour Day Public Holiday. The Judicial area required substantial restorative works which were completed on Friday 30 April 2010.

Substantial works to replace carpets and re-paint the Jury Pool area were completed during the quieter period for Court sittings in January 2011.
